A Week In The Life Of A Franchisee

When considering something huge, like a career change or other big life decision, it can be really tricky to visualise what your life might look like on the other side! It’s like one of those ‘sliding doors’ moments…what will my life look like if I take this path? Or that path?

Becca was our very first Music Monsters’ Franchisee! She has kindly shared a ‘Week In The Life’, an up-close look at her life and work, to help you to put yourself in her shoes – and to imagine how your life may look if this were you.

"Launching and running my own Music Monsters branch has been a wonderful journey. I really enjoy the challenge of learning and developing the new skills that are required to manage my business effectively. It is a powerful feeling to be responsible for your own financial freedom, it drives me to make my business a success in a way that working for someone else wouldn’t. There are ups and downs when starting a new business, I try to keep a positive mental attitude, learn from my mistakes, and try to remember my why. Here are some of the things I do in my weekly schedule.

I make longer term plans, thinking about which new classes I will launch for different ages within my territory. I am currently planning my first concert which is very exciting, grouping children into suitable ensembles, booking venues, and planning the music and activities for the program.

We use booking system software to charge parents for fees, keep registers and allow bookings through our website. Every month I check that each parent is billed for the correct amount, and that our website is up to date with booking information. I also liaise with my venues, discussing any changes to hire times, and pay them for room hire each month.

I like to set myself goals for the week, the term, the year. A big goal for this year is to book a family holiday, through hard work and determination I’m hoping that it will be possible this year! Music Monsters has given me the opportunity that I was looking for, to work for myself and be in control of my own destiny, whilst still doing what I love, teaching music to youngsters!
